Project Name: Burn TV

Project Description: Burn TV is a on demand video service for user generated content. Users are allowed to make them as long as they want and of any topic they want. Once they are uploaded Burn will insert micro-ads into the content and then make them available for viewing and download from our site. The users will cash on a CPC basis (hopefully to make more content). We will make money off of advertising of course.

The more viral the video the more money they make. We can even offer digitizing for independent movies that would otherwise go straight to video.

Sorry for missing last week, I was on a business trip.

Project Name: ScreamSheets

Project Description: ScreamSheets is on demand RSS feed newspaper that prints out a one or 2 page paper with the current RSS feeds or Seduku/crossword puzzles of the users choice. It to be free to the consumer, the revenue will be generated by advertising, think site specific banner ads for a geographical location. (Think of the coffee place near a specific train station advertising only in the kiosk at that stop) and be billed on a CPP (Cost per Print) basis.

E-Brew

Project Name: E-Brew

Project Description:E-Brew is an online brew on demand service. Users determine what the recipe they want and how big a container they want. Each keg is then hooked into a password protected module that allows the user to control pH, temperature and a few other important variables. When the batch is done they have the option of having it bottled and private labeled for an extra fee. Money is made off of the sale of ingredients, renting keg space and other add on services (like bottling). There is also be a community of talking about brewing and other issues facing home brewers.

Pilot TV

Project Description: Pilot TV is a web site for the hundred of unaired pilots that never make it to TV. It is a place for people to comment and rate TV shows that only were shown once or never saw the light of day. Not sure how to monetize it other than having ads embedded in the clips.

Project Description: Industrial-Startup.com is a project management web application website for start-up companies. It contains resources, tools, communication apps and project management tools to allow people to work remotely and individually on projects and be able to track and monitor each others progress. for example the founder can build a time line and assign people tasks, or mark them as tasks that need to have people with certain job skills added to the organization. It will allow for documents to be uploaded and only be checked out by one person at a time for revision control as well and having secure real time collaboration software.

The entire site will be secure and the "founder" will have moderator privileges to allow or remove "workers" or limit their access.

Some of the low end features would be free (ad subsidised), but there would be a subscription based model for the more advanced tools or if they want to disable ads.

Project Description: Community Builder is a company that is focused on designing and helping to build on-line communities. It helps by ensuring that new communities are laid out in the proper manner and that they are build for SEM and are properly SEOed. It will also provide hosting and community moderation as add on services. The company will also work to maximize advertising and other monetary issues.

Project Description: Content.com is a website for people with opinions and/or expertise in a specific domain to to sell articles or offer freelance services on a "mico-payment" scale. This allows sites that need content (reviews, posters, newsletter articles) access to a wide pool of talent. The website will make money off of advertising and taking a "service charge" on every transaction. The authors will operate under a CC licence and the articles for sale will be made to be unlink-able (or if they want they will be linkable with a portion of all ad revenue from traffic paid to them).

sorry for being a day late, but I had a brain fry moment scrapped the other idea I was going to present. I'll save it for when the well is dry or I'm going on vacation.

Project Description: Mix-Tape.com is a vanity music creation service that allows people to create old fashioned Mix-tapes (actually CD's or podcasts) for special occasions or people. When you set up your account you are given an ID code and you can call in to say what you want to insert into the mix CD over the phone. You can then select songs and insert stock library clips or your custom call in clips. You have the option of wither making a Podcast for cheap or having a fully detailed custom CD with Jacket mailed to you.

The key is working with Apple to have access to songs on ITunes for the legal music library. Either that or allowing people to upload mp3s for a short period of time with the whole DRM disclaimer.

Project Description: Trailing Edge is a web site that allows you to enter in part numbers that you want to track and it will send you notices when revisions are made or when the part goes obsolete. It will also inform you if there is a fit/form/function replacement.

The site will make money off of the companies that want to have their parts listed and will feature tracking of errata and family upgrades.

Movie Maker

Project Description: Movie Maker is a web app that allows people to use a free 3D rendering engine and prop database to let people make their own short films. It will also have the ability to let people create their own sets and props to add to an online database for other people to use. the movies will then be hosted on the website and users can send out links to their friends to go and watch their little shorts.

The site will make money by selling advertising and "product placement" in the movies. Preferred accounts will also be available that will unlock advanced features and allow people to store more movies.

Home Improvement Tracker

Project Description: This is a simple website where home owners use simple tools to recreate a blueprint of there home and can attach photos to each element. They can then go into "Upgrade" mode that will let them make modifications to their home win real time and save the various plans. There will be a project estimator that will make a guesstimate on how much the project will cost and a "find a XXX" page to find contracts, plumbers and landscapers who live in your area. You can then talk to them through the website in real time chat and work collaboratively on the changes you want made through the blue print.

I would make most the money from this site off of advertising and having a fee for being a contractor on the web site.(You could still be listed for free, but you would not have all the lead generation that comes with being a paid member.)

Credit Taker

Project Description: Credit Taker is a simple phone service that allows people to take credit/debit card payments with any phone. You just have to call a 1-800 number and enter in the number, expiration date and amount and it will process the transaction. It then deposits the money into a designated bank account. You get a monthly statement will all the charges that you received. The service makes money by taking 1% or $5 of every transaction which is then taken from the same bank account that money is deposited into for purchases.

Project Name: Payday Mobile

Project Description: Payday Mobile is a simple web service meant to be accessed via cell phones. You let it know what form of gambling you are interested in and it will send you text alerts for events you are interested in. For example if you want to know the point spread for a certain game you can look it up; then mark it as "let me know who one" and you will get a text alert when the game is over, the race is done or when the lottery numbers are drawn.

The service makes money off of a subscription and text fees.

I am flat out tired of power cables. I have about 600 power outlets under my desk, powering everything from my three flat panels to my desk lamp to my phone to my two laptops to my two desktop computers to my wireless router to my Vonage adapter to my PalmPilot to my cell phone to my wireless mouse recharger to my iPod to... you get the picture.

I am just tired of the spaghetti wire mess under my desk.

Thus, I am hereby inventing a New Kind of Power Company (a la John Galt, perhaps). This power company will solve this problem. I'm just not sure how, yet.

The fundamental problem is simple: the proliferation of and innovation in digital devices has not been accompanied by a similar level of innovation in batteries. Thus, one must constantly be wary of power levels in all of one's devices. It is an annoying problem. Further, the size of many such devices is limited by the size of the battery one can fit in the back. When I pop upen the back of my Nokia phone, I realize that the entire device is dominated by a battery. Imagine what would be possible if we could somehow do away with such bulky batteries.

Well it's Monday again, so I'm trying to keep up with the one company idea a week.

I hope people are finding this entertaining at the least.

Project Name: Guttenburg Book Store

Project Description: The Gutenberg books Store is a print on demand book store. They keep soft copies of books in an adjustable format and can print on demand any book in their library in any format (Hardcover, Quality Paperback or Mass Market) in any size font.

This removes the messy inventory process as well as the shipping, stocking and other overhead nightmares that most conventional bookstores have to deal with. It also means that if you want the "Davinci Code" in a form you can read and carry easily you can have it. It will also allow for printing books in various languages as well as in large print.

Problem: While there are a plethora of public domain books that would allow you a massive back catalog the deals that would have to be made with large scale publishers is out of my realm of expetese.

MyTown

I'm a little bit skittish about putting this one up, but what the hell.

Project Name: MyTown

Project Description: MyTown is a pure Web 2.0 play. It uses Google Maps with geocache/physical addresses for interesting features or historical elements.

People are able to create audio tracks of either a brief history, a review of the services or other interesting information in mp3 format (I'm thinking podcasts like files). They then upload them with the Long/Lat or Adress they want they file to talk about. They then tag it and confirm the location before it is uploaded to the database.

People then can search by tag or zip-code and then upload the Podcasts that they like or just listen to them on the website.

Problem: No idea how to monetize this sucker....

Here is the first in what should be many elevator pitches. I'm hoping that by learning how to rip apart a proposal people will learn how to put them together better. And it's just plain fun

Product Name: FreshCheck

Product Description: A disposable sticker that is lets you know when food has gone bad.

Pitch: The FreshCheck is a sticker that changes color from green (foods ok), to yellow (not so fresh) to red (not recommended for consumption). It does this by having the rate of change of the chemicals that make up the sticker decay in direct relation to the temperature. That means food might be green for months in the freezer, but only hours in a hot car.

The process starts when the wrapper is opened and the strip gets the oxygen it needs to begin the reaction. The sticker has a weak adhesive so it can be easily removed from storage containers or it can just be thrown out with aluminum foil.

Needless to say I know some of the problems with this; it’s why I’m fine with posting it here. I’ll defend it to the best of my ability though. Go ahead and fire away.

I need to add a few more RSS Feeds to my Feedreader as I just got rid of my Indian and Chinese engineering news feeds. I just wasn't finding them relevant.
