Let see I found the site while doing research of one of my 3 "side companies", I.E. projects that I work on while paying the rent. One of them is actully my wife's side business, but I handle the business side of things.

Accordign to the earliest E-mail I have from you (check you archives, I gave you a nice complement:cool I found the site 1/5/2005. I even submited a question to Dr. VC, look for the one on approching people to be on the BoD.

As for what I'm doing here, I'm a start-up junkie (trying to get one off the ground), I tend to work for just funded companies after I got burned badly in the Telecom meltdown. I currently work for a 10 year old start-up called GlobalSpec. (A verticle B2B engeinering site). During the last 4 years I've spent a decent amount of time networking; I consider this site a way for honing my skills and networking at the same time. I've made the elevator pitch for my companies a few times; to defering amounts of success. Nieter one is through prototyping yet. Bill actully helped me change a key buisness plan model close to a year ago, (not sure he even remebers doing it) that was a HUGE increase to the viablity of the project.

As for a little bit of personal info: I'm 30 years old and live in Albany, NY. I worked in the techbelt of Boston for 6 years for small companies, 3 of which were aquired while A I worked there; Fujitsu Nexion, Newbridge, FiberLoop and Centenial Technology. I've developed things from wireless PDA style fleet managemetn hardware to Gig-E/T1 CPE equipment. The best known product I worked on was a CES DS-3 flavor of Fujitsu's Flash 150.

I'm a hardware guy who works in the internet space now; I'm a rabid consumer of information. I'm a beta-tester for sites that will take me.

Think that's enough, the TMI light just went on.

I think that the most people I ever had working under me was 6, not sure I'd want to deal directly with 100 or more. Take to much time and effort to remember their names and interests I guess.

Knowing Bill, I very much doubt he bothered to learn any of their names. He's more of the "Hey, you! Wax these floors!" management school of thought.

BRodda, what do you do? How'd you find us and what are you up to here? I've seen a few of your posts but your profile doesn't give a lot of clues to who you are.

To manage that many people I'd have to have a far greater command distance than I am currently capable of outputting =/

That's why I eat the stick and beat the employee with the carrot. No, wait, it's "Spoil the rod, beat the employee." I always forget that saying.

In a past life I used to boss around hundreds of real, live, actual employees. Over 100, at one point. My philosophy was to treat them nicely, because you never know when you'll have to fire them. On post employment relations, my main goal was to reduce the disgruntled former employees to merely gruntled former employees.
